Molly Doba

2nd year horticulture apprentice

Age: 22

I’m Molly and I've been an AP Homegrown apprentice since March 2022. After travelling the year before on many different permaculture farms, I fell even more in love with nature and wanted to learn much more about plants. I went to an apprenticeship taster day and was invited back for a few trial shifts. I was blown away by the huge range of beautiful and peculiar trees and plants, to work amongst them every day seemed too good to be true. Being given tasks in all the different areas (that I didn’t even realise existed!) has been incredible for learning the plant names, how and where to plant them, creative garden design ideas, and so much more. There is always so much to learn and so many knowledgeable people to learn from.

Olivia Gerrard

2nd year digital marketing apprentice

Age: 21

I’m Olivia and I’ve been working at Architectural Plants since July 2021. After completing my A-levels, I knew I didn’t want to go to uni straight away, so I decided to search for a job. After listening to Guy give a talk at my college I emailed in. I have a huge passion for indoor plants and Guy’s enthusiasm had me hooked. The possibility of working surrounded by rare and exotic of plants was too much to resist. I asked if there was an opportunity for a marketing role and the next week I was starting at AP! I’m now their Marketing Assistant and this year they have agreed to sponsor me in studying for a Digital Marketing degree apprenticeship. I am very grateful to have this opportunity, a big thank you to AP Homegrown for supporting me through this.

Dan Hillen

Graduate Apprentice

Age: 24

Hi, I'm Dan. I began working as soon as I left school in 2017 not really sure about what I wanted to do. I got a job working on a 16-acre private garden estate maintaining the grounds. I wanted to push myself to a more professional level and got in touch with Architectural Plants, had a few trial days and had so much fun I thought an apprenticeship could be a fantastic opportunity for me. Over my time here I have learnt so much, acquired many new skills and met a range of great new people.

I have been at AP for 3 years now and have developed a passion for all things horticultural. I’m proud to be AP's first graduate apprentice and now it's Deputy Nursery manager.
